The Shopping Cart Tree 

The Shopping Cart Tree by Artist Anthony Schmitt, is being constructed this week at the Edgemar Center on Main Street Santa Monica. The holiday tree is constructed from 86 shopping carts and is 33 feet tall. Schmitt uses shopping carts because they are a symbol both of abundance and a reminder of those less fortunate. HOT WHEELS! Mattel Party on the Pier. A sold out crowd of over 2,000 guests and many of television and film’s biggest celebrities showed their support and celebrated the 16th Annual Mattel Party on the Pier on November 5, 2017. at the world-famous Santa Monica Pier, and helped raise record-breaking figures for UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital.

Santa Monica Artist Daniel Alonzo, 60, honor's his family with a Dia de Muertos Altar at the Santa Monica Library on Thursday, November 2, 2017.

Daniel Alonzo is an artist whose works capture the natural beauty and feelings of his native Santa Monica. Daniel Alonzo is a second generation Santa Monica native whose works mostly depict the landscapes and seascapes of this place he calls home. He is the son of a Mexican Immigrant and a descendent of the "Casillas Family," an old and very large Santa Monica Pioneer family that originally settled in the city at about the turn of the last century.

Daniel is a graduate of Santa Monica High School, class of 1975.
