Two Hawaiian hula halaus (Hula Schools) came together to offer a traditional rituals and prayers in honor of Kanoloa, the Hawaiian Gods of Oceans, during the closing ceremonies of the World Festival of Sacred Music-Los Angeles on Sunday October 2, 2005 on Santa Monica beach.
The Tongva, indigenous people of Los Angeles, conducted a ceremony ending for the World Festival of Sacred Music-Los Angeles on Sunday October 2, 2005 on Santa Monica beach. This concluded a traditional blessing and a series of ancestral songs that are commonly used during community ceremonies. The words of the songs encourages us all to respect and acknowledge the land we occupy, the community, and our ancestors. Offerings were paddled out in the Moomat Ahiko (canoe).
