A Place Called Home’s “Gala for the Children” recognizes men and women who are role models to young people and have demonstrated a unique and inspiring dedication towards helping the youth of South Central Los Angeles realize their dreams. APCH youth are empowered to become the authors of their own lives and to make a positive difference in their communities and the world. What started out in 1993 with just 12 kids in the basement of a local church has expanded over the years to serve as many as 4,000 youth, annually, in a 10,000 square foot space on South Central Avenue in Los Angeles.
