A single-engine Cessna 172 crashed into a home at the corner of 21st Street and Navy Street after taking off from Santa Monica Airport on Monday, August 29, 2011. The house was unoccupied at the time of the crash, however, there were several workers painting it. The painters were able to pull the pilot from the wreckage. The pilot sustained a fractured leg and one of the painters was injured by debris. The pilot and painter were both transported to local hospitals and are in stable condition. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) & the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are handling the investigation..
