As part of the Bus Stop Improvement Project (BSIP) workers install a new bus stop on Main Street Santa Monica on Friday, May 2, 2014. City of Santa Monica Big Blue Bus will be enhancing its level of service by providing their riders with amenities at its stops, include canopies situated to maximize shade protection during the brightest times during the day; seating; trash and recycling cans; and bus schedule information. Over the span of two years, the BBB will enhance roughly 300 stops within the City of Santa Monica.

The Big Blue Bus operates a fleet of over 200 energy efficient vehicles, transporting more than 70,000 passengers a day across its 52-square mile service area. Nationally recognized for its long-standing commitment to a cleaner environment, the entire fleet operates on compressed natural gas (CNG), which helps cut emissions by over 80 percent.
