Each year the organizations that make up the Service Club Alliance donate trees to the city to celebrate Arbor Day. Members of the Kiwanis Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Lions Club, the Santa Monica Breakfast Club, the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Jaycees, the Rotary Club of Santa Monica, the Soroptimist Club of Santa Monica, and the Y’s Men’s and Women’s Club get down and dirty as they install these newest additions to the city’s urban canopy in Palisades Park, assisted by City of Santa Monica Urban Forester Matthew Wells and his staff. The young trees that were planted are Italian Stone Pines and New Zealand Christmas Trees. All are drought resistant and should thrive in the environment. This Arbor Day event is sponsored by the City Of Santa Monica & the Kiwanis Club Of Santa Monica. Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees.
