Los Angeles Sheriff Alex Villanueva, (@lasdhq) with deputies who are members of the department's Homeless Outreach team, H.O.S.T., (@lasdhost) check on the progress at the Venice Beach Boardwalk encampment on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
.
The team rode around the Boardwalk, on scooters rented from Venice Bike Club, and met with business owners, residents, tourists, vendors, and those experiencing homelessness to get an update on the crisis the city and @countyofla is currently facing.
.
"It seems there was more relocating from one part of the boardwalk to another, than actual problem solving. It's time to compassionately regulate public space. It's time to declare a state of emergency! It's time to stop making excuses!", said Sheriff Alex Villanueva on Los Angeles County Sheriff's Facebook page. Sheriff Villanueva is planning on removing the homeless encampment from the Venice Boardwalk by the July 30.
