Lars Howlett, an esteemed figure in the field of labyrinths, guided a participant through a captivating walk on a labyrinth situated on the beach at the Annenberg Beach House on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

As part of the Day of Art and Wellness, individuals were invited to commence their day with a reflective stroll on the transitory sand labyrinth located in front of the Beach House. Alongside this serene experience, attendees had the opportunity to indulge in tea, partake in meditation, and engage in a mindfulness talk.

The event aimed to showcase the profound potential of labyrinths in fostering stress reduction, healing, self-reflection, and community building through the medium of art. Lars Howlett, who had previously participated in the Labyrinth Festival facilitated by Santa Monica Cultural Affairs in 2021, returned to the Annenberg Community Beach House to lead and facilitate this captivating workshop.

The Day of Art and Well-Being, hosted by Santa Monica Cultural Affairs, featured this event as part of its lineup. Welcoming individuals from all walks of life, the workshop promised a transformative experience free of charge.

Lars Howlett has garnered recognition as an impassioned speaker and inspiring teacher, particularly in the realm of drawing, constructing, and traversing labyrinths. He embraces the practice as a means of cultivating mindfulness and employs his expertise to build, walk, and photograph labyrinths. With his esteemed credentials as a Veriditas Faculty Member and Certified Advanced Labyrinth Facilitator, he underwent training under the guidance of the renowned leader in the labyrinth movement, Lauren Artress, at both Grace and Chartres Cathedrals. Furthermore, Lars Howlett spent three years as an apprentice to Master Builder Robert Ferre, honing his skills in sacred geometry and acquiring expertise in crafting proportionate and precise Classical and Medieval patterns.
