Arbor Day
Each year several local organizations donate trees to the city to celebrate Arbor Day. Assisted by City of Santa Monica Urban Forester Task force, members of the Kiwanis Santa Monica, Santa Monica Elks 906, Santa Monica Lions Club, Santa Monica Breakfast Club and the Santa Monica Bay Woman's Club plant the newest additions to the city’s urban canopy at Hotchkiss Park on Thursday, April 25, 2019. The Santa Monica Arbor Day event is organized by the Public Landscape Division of the Public Works Department, which is responsible for maintaining the City's parks, landscapes, downtown and Santa Monica State Beach. Arbor Day is a holiday in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees.
CLOCK TOWER
The historic Santa Monica Clock Tower building keeps time on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The Clock Tower is Santa Monica's first high-rise building constructed in 1929 in an Art Deco style as a mixed-use office and commercial property for the headquarters of the Bay Cities Guaranty and Loan Association. The building was designated a City Landmark on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Their objective is to do anything they can to help end all wars, hunger, malnutrition, starvation, and homelessness inspiring the development of a pure relationship with mother earth.
