The Puppet Shows with the Bob Baker Marionettes perform at the Santa Monica Pier, Thursday, December 6, 2018. The Bob Baker Marionette Theater, founded by Bob Baker and Alton Wood in 1963, is the oldest children's theater company in Los Angeles. In June 2009, the theater was designated as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.

The Shopping Cart Tree by Artist Anthony Schmitt, is currently being installed this week at the Edgemar Center on Main Street Santa Monica. The holiday tree is constructed from 86 shopping carts and is 33 feet tall. Schmitt uses shopping carts because they are a symbol both of abundance and a reminder of those less fortunate.
