Since the first event in 2006, Sri Lanka Day has grown to become the largest event promoting Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan culture in U.S.A. In 2010, Sri Lanka Day attracted more than one hundred thousand visitors.

The Venice Basketball League VBL honored Venice living legend Ron Beals during the 2nd annual Ron Beals’ Day at the Venice Beach Basketball Courts on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Ron Beals is a streetball living legend who starred in the movie White man can't jump and toured the world playing basketball with the Harlem Clowns. He started his career in 1960 in Chicago at Loyola University. Beals grew up playing against Sweet Water Clifton and Wilt Chamberlain. He has been playing at the Venice Beach courts since the 70′s.

Fifty Firefighters pedal down the Santa Monica Pier completing the "Fire Velo Cancer Awareness Ride" on Saturday, August 16, 2014. The riders started the SF to LA trip on Sunday in San Francisco to raises awareness for firefighters battling cancer.

Fire Velo is a “Fire Department” based, cycling club. They are Firefighters riding for Firefighters. Their goal is to be a highly visible national cycling organization, participating in rides and charity events throughout the United States. All funds raised through Fire Velo helps provide financial assistance to fire department based groups and causes.
