Whale Bone Workoutâ„¢

Whale Bone Workout - Images by Fabian Lewkowicz

Heal the Bay employees and volunteers workout with heavy whale bones at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium during Fit by Fabian's "Whale Bone Workout™" on Monday, April 1, 2013.

"Working out with whale bones is far superior to traditional weights, dumbbells or kettle-bells," said Personal Trainer Fabian Lewkowicz. "Whale bones are nature's greatest workout equipment. They are highly versatile and can be used for any number of exercises. The imbalance weight engages significantly more muscle fiber and uses more of your core resulting in a more intense strength training workout."

Heal the Bay Program Manager Tara Finch has been taking the Whale Bone Workout class for 6 weeks, "This is by far the best and most effective exercise class I have ever taking! I have lost 15 pounds of fat and increased my strength by 75%!" she said, "and it's so much fun!'

The Whale Bone Workout is designed to target the entire body. It increases your lean body mass while reducing body fat and increasing overall conditioning, strength and stamina.

The Whale Bone Workout classes are $12.00 or $10 for Heal the Bay members. The classes are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:00 am at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

Labyrinth

Cindy McQuade walks  the labyrinth at the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica on Good Friday, March 29, 2013. A labyrinth is an ancient symbol dating back 3500 years. Labyrinths have long been used as meditation and prayer tools. A labyrinth has only one path. It is unicursal. The way in is the way out. There are no blind alleys. The path leads you on a circuitous path to the center and out again.
