SASKIA

Check out this colorful new mural on the Vidiots Building entitled "SASKIA" by artist Joe Nicoletti! Nicoletti is President of Chameleon Paintworks. He is an alumnus of the School of Visual Arts, in New York, NY, where he  studied graphic design, and the Fashion Institute of Technology, where he studied interior design. Chameleon specializes in the use of color and surface textures to transform commercial and residential properties in a creative way. The mural was funded by a grant from Buy Local Santa Monica in participation with the  Pico Improvement Organization.  (By Fabian Lewkowicz 02/05/2013)

SuperBowl-A-Thon


17th Annual SuperBowl-A-Thon - Images by Fabian Lewkowicz

Highlights from the 17th Annual "SuperBowl-A-Thon" at AMF Bay Shore Lanes on Friday, February 1, 2013. The SuperBowl-A-Thon brings together the private and public sector in an effort to eradicate homelessness in Santa Monica and transform the community. The fundraiser benefits the Westside Shelter & Hunger Coalition’s efforts to strengthen services to homeless and at-risk, men, women and families through education, advocacy and service coordination. This bowling marathon consists of six bowling sessions, 24 lanes, 144 teams and 720 bowlers.

Santa Monica Bike/Walk Path

Check out the new lanes on the Santa Monica Bike Path! The new lanes are being installed to accommodate pedestrians. The lanes will run throughout the entire bike path along Santa Monica Beach. The lanes are currently being installed by Sterndahl Enterprise, inc. It should take them about  a month to complete the shared-lane project. (Santa Monica Beach  - Thursday,  January 29, 2013)
