GHOSTS

GHOSTS - Images by Fabian Lewkowicz

The cast of  “Ghosts,” runs through a dress rehearsal at the Edgemar Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 15, 2012.

The play is adapted and directed by Doug Kaback. Based on the play by Henrik Ibsen. Produced by Alexandra Guarnieri. Presented by Edgemar Center for the Arts.

Opens Saturday, March 17, 2012. Runs through Sunday, May 13. Fri. & Sat. at 8, Sun. at 5.

Mrs. Helen Alving’s struggle with the ghosts of her past is about to come to an end.

Tomorrow, commemorating the tenth anniversary of her husband’s death, a new orphanage will be dedicated in his name.

For twenty-nine years, since her mother and two aunts arranged for her to marry the wealthy, charming Captain Alving, Helen has kept a dark secret – the reality of her late husband’s deviant excesses and his disease.

Now, with her son Osvald finally home to stay after many years abroad, a triumphant new life begins.

The past will be buried forever.

But her spiritual liberation is about to meet a catastrophic fate in one of the great plays of the world stage by one of its greatest dramatists, Henrik Ibsen.

This English language adaptation of “Ghosts” will prove as haunting for modern audiences as its title.

Doug Kaback adapts and directs. He has previously directed shows for the Old Globe, Fountain Theatre, Cornerstone Theatre, Los Angeles Theatre Center, East West Players, Odyssey Theatre and other venues. He has written over forty plays, and is a Professor at Cal State Northridge.

Michelle Danner plays Helene. The Artistic Director of Edgemar Center for the Arts, she recently appeared in “Hello, Herman,” a feature film which she also directed for All In Films. Her stage acting credits include “Hedda Gabler,” “Antigone,” “The House of Yes,” “The Rose Tattoo,” “The Shadow Box,” and much more.

The cast also includes James Giordano, Nate Golon, Lucy Honigman , and Paul Stroili
