Representatives from the Westside community organizations model the latest Macy's fall fashions during Santa Monica Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary's 32nd Annual 'Christmas in September' fashion show on Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel. The event benefits programs for children of needy families which include the distribution of new toys during the holidays.

PUMPING IRON

The new gym will be open Monday through Friday from Noon to 9pm and Saturday & Sunday from Noon to 7pm. The Fitness Room fees are $3 for Residents/$4 Non-Residents and a four week pass is available for $24 for Residents/$32 Non-Residents.
 
The fitness room equipment was made possible by a generous donation to the City of Santa Monica by the Annenberg Foundation and is on loan from the Annenberg Community Beach House to Memorial Park for the months of September through June.

911 Remembrance Ceremony

(top) Santa Monica Fire  Engineer Jim Enge lowers the flag to half mast during the 911 Remembrance Ceremony at SMFD headquarters on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center in New York, at the Pentagon in Arlington, Va. and in Shanksville, Pa. resulted in the deaths of more than 2,700 people.  Of those killed, 343 were FDNY Firefighters.  In recognition of those who perished on that tragic day, the Santa Monica Fire Department will annually conduct a brief and solemn remembrance ceremony consistent with the International Association of Fire Chief's recommended protocols. (above) A giant American flag hoisted from a Santa Monica Fire truck pays tribute to 911 at Santa Monica Beach on Friday, September 11, 2010.
