People eat during opening day at the Santa Monica Gourmet Food Truck Corner AKA "Mobile Food Court" at the corner of 14th St. and Santa Monica Blvd. on Monday, January 04, 2010. The Mobile Food Court will feature well known mobile trucks like Grilled Cheese Truck, Kogi BBQ, Border Grill and many more. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm.

Traveling for a total of 1,547 days and more than 150,000 miles across the country, 13 road tour vehicles will provide the public with an educational, engaging and interactive experience that brings the 2010 Census to life.
The Los Angeles regional vehicle, "L.A. Confidential," will travel around Southern California. At each event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the 2010 Census and understand the benefits a complete count can bring to communities everywhere; view a sample 2010 Census form and learn how the collected information is used; and contribute stories and photos to the Portrait of America project to explain why "I count!" and view messages from other Road Tour participants.

Swimmers run into the chilly Pacific Ocean during the 50th Annual Venice Penguin Swim on New Years Day- Friday, January 1, 2010, at the Venice Beach Breakwater. The 2010 Penguin Swim featured more than 80 participants, three-foot waves, and sunny 59° degree weather, with a water temperature of 60°degrees.

The 'Blue Moon' can be seen rising on New Year's Eve in Santa Monica on Thursday, December 31. 2009. A blue moon is the second full moon in a month and occurs every 3.5 years. The moon was full on Dec. 2 and again tonight Dec 31.
