July 19, and glowing through the night until 7 a.m.  This unique event is free to the public and will introduce a new way of participating in, and experiencing art.  GLOW is presented by the City of Santa Monica in partnership with Bayside District Corporation, Pier Restoration Corporation and the Santa Monica Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Artists from ReDiscover, Mary Beth Trautwein 43, (right) and Shiva Mandell, 32, (left) assemble their art installation, "Camera Projecta" on Monday, July 12, 2008, during a rehearsal at the Santa Monica Senior Center in preparations for Saturdays all night art show, GLOW. Situated in the building that houses the famous Camera Obscura on Palisades Park, this project invites the public to enter into the artmaking process. Using reclaimed materials obtained through the non-profit organization reDiscover, visitors will be able to engage in visual storytelling through the manipulation  of various materials, all placed on the flatbed screens of opaque projectors. The images created at ten projector stations will be broadcast onto the large windows facing west and north, acting as a kind of reverse Camera Obscura.
