Aerospace Engineer, Wayne Brooks, 50, flies his giant kites at Santa Monica Beach on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Brooks has been flying kites for the past five years. He has a collection of over 400 kite, many of which he built himself. Brooks can be seen flying his kite on most Sundays at Santa Monica Beach.

Dr. Pedroza also performed on-stage with Jackson Browne on Saturday at Barnum Hall.  Artists For The Arts Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to producing fundraising concerts to benefit the arts in public schools. The concert  benefits the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.

The new Ferris wheel cost $1.5 million and is the only solar-powered Ferris wheel in the world. It has 160,000 LED lights and is 75 percent more energy efficient than its predecessor. The previous wheel was auctioned on Ebay for $132,000, with half the proceeds going to the Special Olympics. The previous wheel was purchased by real estate developer Grant Humphreys, chief executive officer of Humphreys Real Estate Investments in Oklahoma City. Over the last 12 years, more than 3 million people rode the wheel. The Pacific Wheel appeared in 105 photo shoots, 71 television commercials, 69 television shows, 28 films -- including the current hit "Ironman" -- and 13 music videos, according to Pacific Park.
