Bag bashing
A group of Santa Monica High School students protest for the ban of plastic bags on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in front of City Hall before the council meeting. The Santa Monica City Council is scheduled to vote on drafting an ordinance to ban plastic bags in the city during February 19th hearing at City Hall. The ban that is being considered (which is recommended by the city's staff), is a far-reaching and comprehensive approach to the problem of single-use plastic and paper bag consumption.

Dinosaurs of Santa Monica
People stroll past the public art sculptures 'Dinosaurs of Santa Monica' (by 1989, Claude and Francois Lalanne) at the Third Street Promenade on Saturday, February 16, 2008. There are six topiary sculptures made of stainless steel, copper and foliage that run along the Third Street Promenade between Broadway and Wilshire Boulevard.
