It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

MERRY FLOCKER

Mario Alvarez flocks a Christmas tree at Lopez Ranch Pumpkins and Christmas Trees Is located at 1020 Victoria Avenue in Venice. Lopez Ranch is veteran and locally owned. They offer many varieties of fresh Christmas Trees, direct from the growers, fresh greens, garlands, wreaths, swags, door charms, poinsettias, lights, ornaments and decor!

Lopez Ranch was founded by Eleuterio and Arcadia Lopez in 1935. Eventually the family became land owners and farmers in Northern and Southern California and had a very popular gourmet market and nursery on Jefferson Blvd, in Mar Vista. In 1967 Charlie Lopez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lopez, decided to cultivate pumpkins on the Mar Vista property and the rest is history! Lopez Ranch was the first pumpkin patch in California and is the only native Angeleno-owned pumpkin patch in the Venice area. The "Big Pumpkin" was born in 1968 -- this has become a Halloween tradition for generations and generations to come! 🎄

𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐈𝐂𝐀’𝐒 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒

This metro commissioned artwork in progress title, "Saint Monica's Tears," for expo line downtown Santa Monica station by artist Walter Hood takes its inspiration from the cities namesake, Saint Monica. "The weeping saint" was said to have shed tears every night over her son Augustine's hedonistic lifestyle. Her watering eyes came to the mind of Father Juan Crespi upon first sight of the springs-whose water cascaded down the sandstone face of Santa Monica’s coastal cliffs. The springs are named Kuruvungna by the Tongva Indian tribe.

Composed of sandstone and hand-formed glass, Saint Monica’s Tears will visualize this layered cultural and geological history in sculptural form.
