PAINT THE CITY PEACEFUL

Local community members, business owners, artists and police officers paint murals on the boarded up businesses in Santa Monica, Saturday, June 6, 2020.

Paint the City Peaceful is a grassroots effort of professional muralists and local community members who are collaborating in response to the heartbreaking devastation and significant damage done to local businesses over the past week. The hope is that by coming together to paint images of hope, equality, and change, they can help share meaningful messages surrounding racial injustice and inequality as well as give individuals the opportunity to use their voice in a safe & supportive space. They aim to curate a free and public social-impact gallery created by and for the community in order to promote change, equality, justice, and peace. This passive, yet powerful, statement proactively propels the city's commitment to achieving racial equality while supporting our neighbors, local businesses, and allies across the world in a mutually monumental, collective effort.
