Community leaders, volunteers from the Police Activities League (PAL), Bayside District Corporation and Santa Monica Place, wrapped more than 250 gifts which were collected during the Winterlit “Best Gift Ever” community gift drive. Gifts collected will be distributed this Saturday at PAL to children who might otherwise go without presents this holiday season.




Santa Monica Nativity Scene

The Santa Monica Nativity Scenes is an annual display of the Christmas story which has been staged at Palisades Park since 1953. The interdenominational display stretches along Ocean Avenue from Arizona Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard and includes 14 scenes with life-size figures depicting events surrounding Christ’s birth.

Eco Gift Festival

The installation is made from split peas, grains, mulch, flowers and many other natural materials. The festival offers consumers one-stop shopping for green gifts featuring innovative products, organic foods; live music and a Speaker Series with leading visionaries of the 21st Century. The event runs through Sunday.




Hava Nagila

The Hava Nagila is a Hebrew folk song, the title meaning "Let us rejoice". It is a song of celebration, especially popular amongst Jewish and Roma communities.




Sleigh Ride
Binky, a three year-old Chihuahua mix who was born without his two front legs, walks down the Third Street Promenade with the help of his Santa sleigh on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. Binky was rescued from a shelter after spending his first year as an orphan.
