Hail to the Chief

Luis Evangelista, 18, past president youth directors council for the Santa Monica Police Activities League and the MC during the event, hands Chief  James T. Butts, Jr, the winning item from the live auction during the fourth annual "Chez PAL" event at Back on Broadway on Thursday, July 20, 2006. Chief Butts won four tickets to Pacific Park during the live auction  with a $75.00 bid. All proceeds from Chez Pal benefits Santa Monica PAL. The restaurant was taken over by Santa Monica PAL kids, serving and preparing delectable dinners under the supervision of well-known restaurateur Fred Deni. Sitting next to Chief Butts are his two Captains; Mark Smiley and Wendell Shirley.
