"Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?"

Groucho Marx impersonator Mike Sherman jokes around with legendary Santa Monica Lifeguard Dr. Art Verge during Santa Monica History Museum's Gala Tribute Dinner at the Hotel Casa Del Mar on Thursday, February 18, 2010. The dinner gala honored supporters of the Santa Monica History Museum. The Santa Monica Historical Society Museum  has been collecting, preserving, and promoting the history of Santa Monica since 1975 and was founded by Louise Gabriel and her husband Bob. The new state-of-the-art museum will open later this year in its new location at the Santa Monica Main Public Library Campus and will provide  hands-on, discover-and-explore environment for lively, pertinent programming, workshops and events as well as continuing research on rare historical material. A unique component of the research library will be the “Digital Discovery Center” which will open the museum’s collections to the public through a digital catalog for researchers and students. The museum’s rare and large collection of images will also be accessible through the “Digital Discovery Center.” To learn more about SMHSM, please call 310 395-2290 or visit www.santamonicahistory.org.
