FLAG FOOTBALL

On Sunday, March 23, 2010, Santa Monica High School hosted the first-ever NFL PLAYERS Premiere League flag football tournament and skills competition, featuring entertainers, former NFL greats, and recently drafted rookies, to close out the NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere Weekend.

The competitions, produced by Entertainment League Productions, featured four flag football teams comprised of three NFL legends and five celebrities, with NFL rookies and other legends weighing in with commentary and coaching.  Participants also competed in the Skills Challenge, which tests agility, accuracy and hand coordination.

NFL legends competing in the competition include former Super Bowl champions Roger Craig, Willie Gault, Andre Rison, Ricky Watters and Willie McGinest who joins fellow USC alum and NY Giants star Jason Sehorn, plus Raghib “Rocket” Ismail and many more. Former UCLA and current Jacksonville Jaguars star Maurice Jones-Drew  provided commentary and several top NFL Rookies were on hand to meet fans, and served as coaches and commentators as part of NFL PLAYERS Rookie Premiere weekend.

Celebrities include, Dean Cain (former player for Santa Monica High School 1982 – 1984, and NFL’s Buffalo Bills), Michael B. Jordan (star of Friday Night Lights), Columbus Short (Death at a Funeral, Stomp the Yard), Wood Harris (Remember the Titans), Arlen Escarpeta (We Are Marshall), Josh Hutcherson (Bridge to Terabithia), Joel David Moore (Avatar), Sam Page (Desperate Housewives) and many others.
