SANTA MONICA KITE FEST

Kites fly high above Santa Monica beach during the Otis first Annual Kite Festival at the on Saturday, April 14, 2012. The event was created as a celebration of all kites for families and communities throughout Los Angeles. Children from Urban Compass, the Junior Blind of America and St Jude Children’s Hospital created and flew their own lightweight kites. Tom Van Sant (MFA ’57), world-renowned artist and creator of this event, will flew many of his famous kites. Tom was joined by fellow noted kite artists from the western United States.
