THE IRISH 66ers

The Santa Monica Police Department and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) escort the Irish 66ers down the Santa Monica Pier on Thursday, October 2, 2014. The irish 66ers completed an eleven day cross country trip on the Mother Road. The Irish motorcyclists traveled 2,448 miles along the historic Route 66 to raise money for the Temple Street Children's University Hospital. Since the first ever Route 66 Challenge in aid of Temple Street took place in 2002, the challenge has raised more than 1.5 million euro in much needed funds for the Hospital. #Route664TempleStreet #RollOn2016

My wife and I were traveling route 66 in our Corvette and when we stopped at the midpoint café was told about the Irish 66ers. On Sunday 9/28/14 we came into Winslow, Az. and found the 66ers leaving the flatbed Ford. All were enjoying the day and we talked with one young man about the trip they were on. The entire group was very friendly and we each took pictures to document the day.
