Kiwanis Music Awards

Santa Monica High School Student Hailey Hoffman (Soprano),  first place winner in the High School Vocal division,  sings, "Frühlingsstimmen" ("Voices of Spring") during the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica's 65th Annual Music Awards at the Santa Monica Library on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.  Twenty-seven students, grades 6th through 12th competed from the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District to receive $11,775 in scholarships for musicianship in vocal, wind and string instrument categories. First place winners Hailey Hoffman (soprano), Mollie Bernstein (oboe), Jeffrey Ho (cello) performed representing the 11th and 12th grade winners.  Isobel Anthony (Soprano), Isaac Horwitz-Hirsch, (Trumpet), and Caroline Ho, (Cello) represented the 9th and 10th grades.  Rachel Lamell, (Soprano), Annie Huang, (Flute), and Juliet Pooler, (Violin) represented the middle school students. 

 
Also winning awards for middle school were 2nd place vocal, Rosalind Jewett, 3rd place vocal, Josiah Lax, 2nd place winds, Adya Mohanty, 3rd place winds, Lea Yamashiro, 2nd place strings, Rufus Bordal, and 3rd place strings, Emma Ware.
 
Ninth and tenth grade winners were 2nd place vocal, Maggie Valdman, 3rd place vocal, Sarah Johnson, 2nd place winds, Yanjun Li, 3rd place winds, Hayden Kirschbaum, 2nd place strings, Celia Daggy, and 3rd place strings, Luna Suzuki.
 
Eleventh and Twelfth Grade winners were 2nd place vocal, Sintra Martins, 3rd place vocal, Hana Chwe, 2nd place winds, Sarah Ohanian, 3rd place winds, Sophie Horwitz-Hirsch, 2ndplace strings, Finn Bordal, and 3rd place strings, Thomas Lin, Jr.
