Police Partner with Youth

Members of Pico Lab sell silk screen t-shirts at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday, July 15, 2022. The shirts were custom designed and printed at Virginia Avenue Park by the youth members. The Santa Monica Police Department’s LEAD (Leadership, Engagement, Achievement, Discovery) Program prides itself on being adaptable and responsive to youth’s needs and interests while building leadership and practical skills. The Pico Lab was created within the LEAD, in partnership with The Police Officers Association, for young people to learn entrepreneurship and teaches young people how to start their own business and plug into existing economic avenues in our community. Young people need encouragement, support, services, and tangible resources, the Pico Lab creates that opportunity.
