After a successful inaugural year, Art Los Angeles Contemporary (ALAC), the International Contemporary Art Fair of Los Angeles, is expanding in 2011.  The fair will take place at the historic Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, accommodating 70 exhibitors, a solo section, conversation series and screenings on site.  ALAC will be held from January 27-30, 2011 and will mark the close of Los Angeles Arts Month 2011, the city’s month-long offering of influential arts initiatives in Los Angeles. ALAC is directed by Tim Fleming and is produced by Fair Grounds Associates.

The new venue, with over 34,000 square feet of open exhibition space and soaring 40-foot ceilings, allows the fair to increase the number of exhibitors and special instillations. There will be a dedicated Solo Artist Projects section at the 2011 fair, where approximately 10 galleries will represent a single artist project.  This consolidated section will hold specially selected projects by established and top emerging contemporary artists from around the globe.  Improving the fair experience for its trade attendees and exhibitors, the new fair location also boasts luxury hotels near the beach, boutique shopping, world-class restaurants and access to a number of renowned private collections.

With the aid of the 2011 Advisory Committee, the accepted galleries will range from established blue chip to progressive young galleries, with participants from the U.S. and abroad. Los Angeles galleries will have a strong presence at Art Los Angeles Contemporary in 2011. An accompanying programming series of talks and screenings will be staged onsite during fair hours. Art Los Angeles Contemporary will also partner with local galleries, private collectors and non-profit institutions to create public and exclusive VIP events that demonstrate the wealth of cultural offerings throughout Los Angeles. A full schedule of programming will be released at a later date.

The first Art Los Angeles Contemporary took place at the Pacific Design Center in January 2010. The international contemporary art fair featured 55 top international and Los Angeles-based exhibitors and attracted 9,000 collectors, curators, artists and contemporary art lovers from around the world.
