Participants make applesauce during Pico Santa Monica Farmers Market's “Preserving the Flavor Classes” at Virginia Avenue Park - City of Santa Monica on Saturday, March 23, 2013. The class is taught by certified UC Cooperative Extension LA County Master Food Preservers, who share their knowledge of jamming, pickling, dehydrating, fermentation, and other food safety techniques, plus food safety guidelines.
