PEAPOD

People look at the "Peapod" at the Santa Monica Pier on Friday, May 22, 2009, during a photo shoot. The Peapod is a neighborhood electric vehicle (NEV) which is a United States Department of Transportation classification for a street-legal, battery-powered electric vehicle that is limited to roads with a posted speed limit of 35 mph or less - perfect for local trips to the store, to school, or for errands. A neighborhood electric vehicle runs solely on batteries which wholly eliminates its emissions of harmful carbon dioxide and thus diminishes the greenhouse effect.The Peapod charges at any standard 110-volt outlet and goes up to 30 miles on a single 6 to 8 hour charge and at 2 cents a mile. It comes with an iPod or iPhoneTM docking station to keeps you connected.

Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament 

Join the Santa Monica Kiwanis club for their 2nd Annual Fundraising Event - Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament at the Riviera County Club on July 18th, 2009. The annual fundraising event benefits the youth of the westside community. Through Kiwanis Charities of Santa Monica, these proceeds help provide Academic/Music Scholarships, Grants and other community support through a variety of projects, such as Back To School supplies, Reading programs and Holiday Meals/Toys.

Musical Lunch

Santa Monica College Music and Theatre Arts student, Kristina Darrow, 19, performs a number from the upcoming SMC Musical Theatre Workshop as Kiwanis President Patty Loggins looks on during  the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica's weekly luncheon at the Santa Monica Family YMCA on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. The SMC Musical Theatre Workshop is a program of solos, duets, and ensemble selections from the musical theatre genre. The Musical Theatre Workshop is co-directed by  Dr. Janie Jones and Karen Benjamin.  The workshop performance can be seen at SMC Studio Stage, Theatre Arts Complex on Thursday, June 04, through Sunday, June 07.

WR and Daisy

The concert reading was directed by Leslie Paxton, featuring Music Director/Pianist Vicki Kirsch and narrated by Phil Persons.

The Annenberg Community Beach House at Santa Monica State Beach is a new public beach facility open to all - no membership required. The Beach House is made possible by a generous gift from the Annenberg Foundation, at the recommendation of Wallis Annenberg, and in partnership with the City of Santa Monica and California State Parks. Additional funding was provided by the US Department of Housing & Urban Development and the federal Preserve America program.

When up-and-coming New York doctor Hank Lawson loses everything fighting for the life of a patient, he escapes to the Hamptons with his younger brother, Evan. After making a dramatic medical rescue at a party, Hank inadvertently finds himself the Hamptons' newest on-call doctor. Now, with the help of Evan and an ambitious physician assistant, Hank is once again helping those in need and reinventing himself as the Hamptons' hottest doctor-on-demand.
