HBO Max Takes Over the Santa Monica Pier
HBO Max takes over the Santa Monica Pier to celebrate the premiere of much anticipated summer blockbusters including Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Suicide Squad, in theaters and on HBO Max. Head to Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier for opportunities to get free rides at the amusement park, taste a brand new flavor of Dippin’ Dots ice cream, and win cool merchandise at the midway inspired by Space Jam: A New Legacy. Each evening through Sunday, July 18, Pacific Park will light the Pacific Wheel — dubbed the HBO Max Ferris Reel — with a special light program featuring characters and icons from the films. You can see the cascading, green code of The Matrix, fun themes from the DC cinematic universe, and beloved Looney Tunes characters from Space Jam: A New Legacy, including a 90ft tall Bugs Bunny who will be gazing out over the Pier from the world-famous Pacific Wheel. If you can’t make it out the Pier, you can still see the lights by visiting Pacific Park’s live streaming webcams. The nightly light program begins at dusk, around 8PM PST. HBO Max is also partnering with local restaurants on the Santa Monica Pier including The Albright, Seaside on the Pier, Rusty’s and Soda Jerks for complimentary rewards for those who ride the HBO Max Ferris Reel each day. Inside Pacific Park, HBO Max has cool prizes from the films at 6 of the midway games including great merchandise from Looney Tunes at Long Range Basketball – can you shoot hoops better that Bugs? Storage for Homeless in Venice
LA Sanitation installed a Safe Storage locker unit for the homeless' belongings at Venice Beach, Thursday, July 15, 2021.The storage unit has over 100 bins for the homeless. The Safe Storage unit is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, Saturday from 8am to 1pm and closed on Sundays.

Los Angeles Police Officers (LAPD) and Los Angeles Fire Fighters recice training on how to use the new Venice Beach Ocean Front Walk Crash Ramps and Bollards at Ocean Front Walk, Venice Beach, Thursday, July 15, 2021. The main purpose of anti-ram bollards is to provide a sufficient level of protection and mitigation from vehicle-borne threats to an area. The bollard is a below-ground assembly consisting of a foundation structure and a heavy cylindrical bollard that can be raised or lowered by a buried electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic power unit, and controlled remotely by a range of access control devices. Manually operated systems is also an option. These are counter-balanced and lock in the up or down position.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputies Homeless Outreach Services Team - H.O.S.T., (@lasdhost) with the St. Josephs Center Homeless Outreach Team, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Practitioners and West Coast Care (WCC) offer outreach to the unhoused at the Venice Beach homeless encampment on Thursday, July 15, 2021. The homeless encampment is scheduled to be removed by July 30. St. Joseph Center provide hope and empowerment to homeless and low-income people in LA to achieve self-sufficiency through outreach & engagement, housing, mental health services, and education, and their mission is to provide working poor families, as well as homeless men, women, and children of all ages with the inner resources and tools to become productive, stable and self-supporting members of the community. Recognizing the dignity that every person possesses is the cornerstone of St. Joseph Center’s approach. They work to advance social and economic equity through both the services they offer as well as their hiring practices. St. Joseph Center is an inclusive, diverse force for change. Staff and volunteers make every effort to provide a welcoming, safe place where all people are treated with compassion and respect.
